Work it ...
  • You look best in colours of medium depth.
  • A beautiful look for you this is through monochromatic colour combinations. You can pair slightly different shades of the same colour.
    • Greens for example, lighter green Verbena with a darker Forest Green. This might make others look washed out, but on a Soft & Warm, it is nothing but flattering.
  • You can combine neighbouring colours and, as long as they have the same depth, they will look perfect on you.
    • Pair Rust with Salmon Pink.
  • Another option is to mix a neutral with an accent of similar depth.
    • A medium Rose Brown with a similarly medium Soft Violet.
  • Combining neutral colours (marked with (n) on your swatch) is a flattering way of dressing for your colouring.  It often washes out other palettes, but on you it’s pure elegance.
  • If you like the strong, brighter colours you still have plenty of combinations with these soft colours.
  • Black is not in your palette, if essential, wear sparingly, preferably below the waist and in a sheer light fabric.
  • Your black alternative is Chocolate | Rose Brown | Charcoal Blue
  • Softer textures can often work better for you as they absorb the light making them softer
  • For those who have changed from a DEEP to a SOFT | Some depth of colouring needs to be kept in your look. Lighter shades are better for accent colours.
  • Mid to later in life if your hair turns to grey or white your colouring could change you to a COOL as your dominant palette.
  • Keep patterns like your colouring, with a low contrast. Natural and gentle – such as oval shapes, leaves, and wood structures. Floral patterns also work, especially small flowers. The elements of the pattern should be small and loosely arranged. Blended animal prints are also lovely on you.

Don't do it ...
  • High, stark contrast
  • Extremely vibrant, bright colours
  • Colours with a cool undertone
  • Pastel or icy colours
  • Pairing highly contrasting colours, especially those that sit opposite each other on the colour wheel, such as Blue and Orange. These combinations will overpower your delicate appearance
  • Pure White and Black
  • Patterns | avoid patterns on a white background, geometric patterns, ordered arrangements, and big elements.

Hair

Soft’s naturally have a wide range of hair colours from dark blonde, light brown to brown, with highlights or lowlights. ‍Keep your colours warm with golden or copper tones and try not to go more than one or two shades lighter or darker than your original colour. A mix of highlights and lowlights can work for you, keeping the warm undertone.

Glasses

Always choose a frame that is a colour, or metal from your palette. Softer, muted colours, or shades of the same colour are flattering. Metals that are matt or brushed will also look better. Tortoiseshell is a particularly nice frame but don’t go too orangey!

Makeup

Soft & Warm makeup is at its best when it’s understated and subtle. With a warm and medium depth colouring, your makeup is at its best when it’s gentle and natural. To achieve a harmonious makeup look, you will need to mimic your natural characteristics with your makeup. A ‘Nude makeup’ in its original sense is what you wear best. Keep your makeup matt and elegant and it will frame your face beautifully.

  • Neutral eyeshadow colours look lovely, with a wide variety of beiges, taupes, khakis and browns to choose from.
  • Accent options like Melon, Peach, or soft pinks, plum colours like Damson or Purple, and greens like Olive and Pistachio are great colourful options.
  • When selecting eyeshadows, opt for a matt or slightly shimmery finish. A little shimmer is nice, but too much can easily overwhelm you.
  • Avoid black which can be harsh on your colouring, and take care with accent colours, overly bright colours; these will overwhelm you.
  • Blended colours will give you an elegant and sophisticated look
  • A Moss, Aubergine, Brown or Coffee eyeliner really brings out the colours in your eyes. You want one that doesn’t make an obvious line and is not much darker than your eye shadow.
Warm-Brown, Black-Brown or a soft Navy mascara will look lovely.
  • A blush that is soft and warm with no shimmer such as Almond or Muscat
  • Bronzer is a great product for you, it brings out a healthy, warm and golden glow in your complexion.
  • Use lipstick similar to your natural lip colour for a very subtle daytime look, Chiffon or Spiced Peach.
  • For a more dramatic look you can use the darker colours of your palette. Try a brown smoky eye with Cocoa or Damson. Lips can go slightly darker with Sheer Rum or Sheer Breeze, or even a darker rich Mahogany. Opt for a matt or sheer finish as some glosses can look too heavy.

I had the most fabulous, fun and inspiring experience with Nicki for the full colour works analysis.Being in my mid sixties I was a little apprehensive of what to expect, but from entering the beautiful consultation room, Nicki made me feel so relaxed.Nicki has such a great understanding of all aspects of colour and styling and was so professional, passionate and clear in her approach when choosing the best colour palette for me, which I found so helpful.I came away feeling so special about myself and both inspired and excited to start using my personal colour swatch wallet which has given me so much confidence and understanding in choosing my new wardrobe combinations. (So looking forward to my next shopping trip!!).I can’t thank Nicki enough for such a wonderful time and would highly recommend her services.
I had the most amazing experience with Nicki during her full works consultation. I genuinely can’t recommend her services enough. You can feel Nicki’s passion for colour instantly and she made me very comfortable and at ease during the appointment. Nicki really cares and it’s evident she wants to help women feel their best versions of themselves - which alone is just a beautiful thing! As someone who’s always been shy to experiment with colour personally (even though I work in fashion(!)), I came away with a new found confidence to explore colour and I honestly can say that I think about Nicki’s advice now whenever I’m shopping. The little swatch book I bought serves as a bit of a bible for me now and I’m so grateful to her for the experience!

This was my first experience of colour analysis. Nicki is a lovely friendly consultant who shares her expertise in clothes colour and make-up. I rarely wear make-up but absolutely loved the look Nicki created for me. I feel inspired and uplifted by the whole experience and cannot wait to colourfully recreate my wardrobe and my image. I highly recommend Nicki's service and advice to anyone who feels in need of a makeover and confidence boost.

The full works package with Nicki was such a fun and engaging experience! Nicki was great at showing me which colours look best on me and how to layer colours and wear them together. I liked that she not only showed me, but also explained her reasoning behind everything. I loved that she also gave advice on other things such as glasses, jewellery, make-up and hair. I came away from the session with a colour swatch booklet and new knowledge on how to dress and accessorize to suit my palette. Nicki was very professional and went out of her way to select colours and shades of make-up especially for me. I would highly recommend the experience.

The Full Works package with Nicki at Colour Fabulous was such a fun and inspiring couple of hours. At her beautiful house, Nicki skillfully found a range of colours, tones and hues that have transformed how I chose and wear clothes. Even more impressively Nicki found a range of new colours that not only really suit my husband but he's happy to wear them too! After years of wearing the same make-up shades, I was really delighted that Nicki was able to give me helpful and bespoke advice on how to change things up and use different make up tones for different effects. It was great that I could try so many shades and Nicki was so generous with her time and advice. We came away with a range of colour swatches and lots of ideas and a new confidence in how to chose and wear clothes. I would definately recommend the experience.
