Colour Guidelines | Click on image/title for more info

Work it ...
  • For you, with your high contrast, the more unusual the combination, the more striking. Some depth contrast can be created by pairing a lightest and darkest of one colour.
    • Combine the lightest and darkest of one colour, Dark Navy with Sky Blue.
  • Instead of depth contrast, aim for high colour contrast
    • A neutral with a bright accent colour, like a neutral Charcoal, with Apple Green or Light Grey with Emerald Turquoise.
  • For depth or colour contrast combine just accent colours.
    • Mint with a Light Aqua (depth contrast) or Bright periwinkle with Blush Pink (colour contrast).
  • Don’t be afraid to combine opposite colours on the colour wheel.
    • Lapis and Lemon
  • In general, always aim for at least one bright colour in your outfit.
  • The brighter and lighter shades are best near your face.
  • One colour is trickier, if you do, make it one of your most vivid.
  • Mid to later life you may change to a COOL as your hair turns to grey or white.
  • As your natural colouring is highly contrasted, opt for bold, clear patterns with higher contrast between the elements rather than ones which blend too much. Great patterns for you are dotty, busy, creative, and geometric patterns. Hand-drawn elements are also good. Elements should be bigger and not too dense.

Don't do it ...
  • Colours with a cool undertone
  • Avoid muted tones
  • Icy, frosty colours
  • Two lights or two darks together
  • A single colour on its own
  • A monochromatic look
  • Avoid neutrals-only combinations
  • Patterns | Avoid small elements, very loose and very dense arrangements and natural floral patterns. If necessary, opt for stylised flowers.

Jewellery

Jewellery is best bright and shiny, polished finish. Matt finishes will clash with your naturally bright colouring. As a Clear & Warm, Gold looks amazing but is not the only metal that works for you. You can mix and match more easily than other palettes.

  • Gold | Rose Gold (peachy) | White Gold | Silver | Platinum
  • Gemstones in colours from your palette | Sapphire | Topaz | Emerald | Turquoise | Amethyst
Hair

Hair tones are from brown, to deep dark brown and black. You may have golden or copper highlights. Keep the base of your hair dark, use two to three shades of warm toned lowlights if you want to enhance your natural colour and don’t be tempted to go blonde. If you eventually go grey or white, your dominant palette may change to Cool.

Glasses

All the metals mentioned can work for glasses frames, as can any of the colours in the palette. Colourful, bright or dark frames are especially wonderful on you, as is a touch of sparkle. Make sure the lenses are non-reflective so your striking eyes remain visible.

Makeup

Your makeup as a Clear & Warm is at its best when it’s highly contrasted, colourful and bright. The vibrancy of your colouring and clarity of your look needs to be replicated in your makeup. Choose contrasting shades and clear bright tones. A natural look on you is a glowy and intense look rather than a no makeup look. It’s important to use at least one bright colour in your makeup as this is what will bring out your natural level of contrast. This is best achieved through lipstick. What is required is a bold lip paired with defined eye makeup.

  • Neutral eyeshadow colours are the Creams, like Champagne; Peach, Greys, Steel and Storm; and Taupes. You can easily wear dark eyeshadow, but don’t go too dark and avoid muddied soft colours.
  • For highlight and accent eyeshadow colours, opt for the brighter and more colourful colours on your palette. Darker Pinks, Purples, Blues and Greens look particularly nice. Delph, Purple, Midnight, Peppermint.
  • Make sure to avoid eyeshadows with very matt finishes, as those might dull your appearance, use a cream shimmer or add a highlight over the top.
  • Eye liner wise, anything darker than Granite might look too heavy on you. Instead, opt for brighter colours, Teal, Marine Blue, or Amethyst.
  • A Black-Brown or Black mascara is perfect for you, or a striking Navy.
  • Bronzer and shimmer highlighter enhance your look.
  • Your blush will need warmth to it, a pinky, a peach or coral like Salmon.
  • The best lipstick colours for you are intense. Gloss also works well. All types of peach, coral and pinks. Warm Pink, Coral, Red Velvet, and Cerise. They may seem bold but will look very natural on you due to the natural intensity of your appearance. Avoid dark, cool colours such as burgundy and plum. These would clash too much with your warmer complexion.
  • A Dramatic look can be achieved by intensifying your lips with an even brighter lip colour, or you can go for a smoky eye. But don’t make it too dark, as this would overwhelm you.

I had the most fabulous, fun and inspiring experience with Nicki for the full colour works analysis.Being in my mid sixties I was a little apprehensive of what to expect, but from entering the beautiful consultation room, Nicki made me feel so relaxed.Nicki has such a great understanding of all aspects of colour and styling and was so professional, passionate and clear in her approach when choosing the best colour palette for me, which I found so helpful.I came away feeling so special about myself and both inspired and excited to start using my personal colour swatch wallet which has given me so much confidence and understanding in choosing my new wardrobe combinations. (So looking forward to my next shopping trip!!).I can’t thank Nicki enough for such a wonderful time and would highly recommend her services.
I had the most amazing experience with Nicki during her full works consultation. I genuinely can’t recommend her services enough. You can feel Nicki’s passion for colour instantly and she made me very comfortable and at ease during the appointment. Nicki really cares and it’s evident she wants to help women feel their best versions of themselves - which alone is just a beautiful thing! As someone who’s always been shy to experiment with colour personally (even though I work in fashion(!)), I came away with a new found confidence to explore colour and I honestly can say that I think about Nicki’s advice now whenever I’m shopping. The little swatch book I bought serves as a bit of a bible for me now and I’m so grateful to her for the experience!

This was my first experience of colour analysis. Nicki is a lovely friendly consultant who shares her expertise in clothes colour and make-up. I rarely wear make-up but absolutely loved the look Nicki created for me. I feel inspired and uplifted by the whole experience and cannot wait to colourfully recreate my wardrobe and my image. I highly recommend Nicki's service and advice to anyone who feels in need of a makeover and confidence boost.

The full works package with Nicki was such a fun and engaging experience! Nicki was great at showing me which colours look best on me and how to layer colours and wear them together. I liked that she not only showed me, but also explained her reasoning behind everything. I loved that she also gave advice on other things such as glasses, jewellery, make-up and hair. I came away from the session with a colour swatch booklet and new knowledge on how to dress and accessorize to suit my palette. Nicki was very professional and went out of her way to select colours and shades of make-up especially for me. I would highly recommend the experience.

The Full Works package with Nicki at Colour Fabulous was such a fun and inspiring couple of hours. At her beautiful house, Nicki skillfully found a range of colours, tones and hues that have transformed how I chose and wear clothes. Even more impressively Nicki found a range of new colours that not only really suit my husband but he's happy to wear them too! After years of wearing the same make-up shades, I was really delighted that Nicki was able to give me helpful and bespoke advice on how to change things up and use different make up tones for different effects. It was great that I could try so many shades and Nicki was so generous with her time and advice. We came away with a range of colour swatches and lots of ideas and a new confidence in how to chose and wear clothes. I would definately recommend the experience.
