Cool & Clear

YOUR LOOK IS DEEP AND STRONG

Your colours are wonderfully deep, but lighter colours in the palette enable you to create high contrast combinations by pairing light with dark. By repeating this contrast naturally present in your appearance, you look radiant.

With your secondary palette as Cool, clothes and makeup that have a cool undertone will enhance your colouring.

Adding a tertiary palette of Clear, means your overall look is elevated with colours that have a brightness to them, and in combinations that are more contrasting. These make wonderful additions to your wardrobe.

Personal style will also always influence how you wear your clothes and the colour combinations you prefer.

Contrasting Accents

Lightest & Darkest of a Single Hue

All Dark

Colour Guidelines | Click on image/title for more info

Work it ...
  • Depth contrast with colour contrast is especially flattering on you. A neutral with an accent colour.
  • Pair a light neutral in one colour with a different dark accent colour, such as Stone with Burgundy.
  • You can also combine a darker neutral with a brighter accent colour, such as Black-Brown and Emerald Green.
  • For depth or colour contrast combine just accent colours.
  • Lightest and darkest of a hue for depth contrast is striking:
    • True Blue with a Powder Blue
  • An all-dark look works for you especially with striking accessories in an accent colour.
  • If you wear one colour, ensure its dark or vibrant.
  • For balance, wear the strong dark colours near your face.
  • If your lighter colours are near your face, balance the look with deeper/stronger coloured makeup and accessories.
  • Though your contrast is high, it’s not extreme, so take care pairing colours that are in stark contrast- opposite sides on the colour wheel can be overwhelming.
  • Paler shades can wash you out, they will look better worn with dark or bright colours.
  • Mid to later life you may change to a COOL as your hair turns to grey or white.
  • Great patterns for you are bold, highly contrasted, and contain unusual and unexpected elements. Look for patterns with geometric shapes or round and rectangular shapes mixed together. Abstract prints are great too; as are stylised versions of natural elements.

Don't do it ...
  • Pastel, icy, light colours
  • Muted colours
  • Colours with a warm undertone
  • Two light colours together
  • A monochromatic or neutrals-only look doesn’t give you enough contrast.
  • Patterns | avoid natural and floral patterns. If necessary, opt for stylised flowers. Also avoid small elements in dense arrangements and anything faded or blended (such as watercolour prints).

Jewellery

Jewellery can be matt or shiny, a great way of adding contrasting colour.

  • Platinum | White Gold | Diamonds | Pewter | Silver (can get lost on darker skin if in the form of fine jewellery)
  • Cool hued gemstones in colours from your palette | Sapphires | Ruby | Amethyst | Garnet | Emerald
Hair

Your hair will always be a medium brown through to deep dark brown and black. As a Deep & Cool, your hair needs a cool undertone to it. Use plummy shades to enhance the cool tones. Avoid coppery-red. As you age your hair may become grey or white and this can change your palette to a Cool.

Glasses

Always choose a frame that is a colour, or metal from your palette. You can mix two or more deep shades or contrast light and dark tones. You can go quite dark with the tortoiseshell. (Avoid pastels)

Makeup

As your Deep look is naturally vivid, intense, and high in contrast, to achieve a harmonious makeup look, you need to repeat these natural characteristics in your makeup. A typical ‘natural’ or nude makeup look won’t work on you. The look for you works when the focus is on just one area of your face. Balance your strong, colouring with both lighter and dark shades together. Keep your makeup colours to a minimum of one or two colours per look. Since your makeup colours are also quite bright, too many different colours could leave you looking overdone. Lips are a great focus for you.

  • Use similar tones to those in your palette with a cool undertone, warm ones one will drain you.
  • Neutral eyeshadow colours are Taupe, or Grey. For highlight and accent eyeshadow colours, opt for the purples, blues and greens on your palette like Heather, Midnight, Steel or a Greyish-Green like Smoke. Purple works especially well on brown eyes.
  • Avoid glitter and completely matt finishes, opt instead for a slight shine.
  • A Marine, Teal or Granite eyeliner really bring out the colours in your eyes.
  • Black mascara is perfect for you, you don’t want the warmth of any Brown. Navy can also be striking.
  • Bronzer is not going to enhance your colouring; to frame your face, apply a little cool toned highlighter to your cheeks. Just a little or it can look unnatural.
  • Your blush will need depth, try Shiraz.
  • You look best in deeply intense lipstick colours. Lips take centre stage in deep red or purple shades, Sheer Fuchsia, Red Carpet or Purple Rain. Avoid a nude, skin-coloured lip even for a natural look.
  • A dramatic look for you includes smoky eyes with a deep lip colour.

What a wonderful experience! Nicki is so welcoming and soon puts you at ease. After talking through my new colour palette (it looks wonderful!), she also recommended which colour and shape of glasses would suit me, together with makeup, jewellery and scarves to finish off an outfit. I can't recommend her highly enough!

Went to see Nicki last week for a re rate appointment as it had been a long time since I had my colours done. Turns out I am completely different to what I originally thought! It was a bit of a shock realising I could wear all the colours I've been avoiding for years and finding out that my safety zones of blues arnt actually ideal for my colouring! Since my appointment I haven't stopped looking for new clothes that match my swatches I've already grabbed a few new pieces that I wouldn't have normally chosen but I actually really love once on! 😊 I also have tones of screenshots of clothes online that I'm looking to purchase and new outfit ideas it's very exciting 😀 even my partner now finds things in my colours and can see the difference in colours on me. Thankyou Nicki you've given me my confidence back! 🌟🥰

My sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful Colour Up and Party Package and we cannot recommend Nicki more highly. From the moment we stepped through the door we were made to feel so welcome and Nicki’s expertise and passion for colour bowled us over. Nicki obviously loves what she does and her knowledge and enthusiasm was energising and infectious 🤗We were so interested to learn which colours suit us best and Nicki encouraged us all to experiment with lip colour too which was a game changer for all of us. Thank you so much Nicki from all of us - shopping will never be the same again - we will be forever grateful!

I recently had a Full Works colour analysis session with Nikki, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I walked in, she was incredibly friendly and made me feel at ease right away. The experience was not only enjoyable but also extremely informative. Nikki provided me with a swatch booklet that has been a game-changer for refreshing my wardrobe. Now, shopping for clothes for my holiday is a breeze! She gave me detailed insights into the colours that suit me best, even down to the perfect jewellery, makeup looks and hair tones. I left the session feeling confident and excited about my new look. If you're considering a colour analysis, I highly recommend Nikki. She is knowledgeable, professional, and truly delightful to work with!
