Colour Guidelines | Click on image/title for more info

Work it ...
  • A great way to achieve a little contrast is by pairing a neutral with a brighter accent.
  • Try combining neutrals with brighter accent colours; a darker neutral
    • Pewter with Violet, or a lighter neutral – Cream with Blush Pink.
  • Pair neighbouring colours on a colour wheel
    • Primrose Yellow and Apple Green.
  • In general, always aim for at least one bright colour in your outfit.
  • The brighter and lighter shades are best near your face.
  • If you wear just one colour, ensure its light to medium in depth.
  • Black is not in your palette, if essential, wear sparingly, preferably below the waist in a sheer, light fabric.
  • Your black alternative is Light Navy | Rose Brown | Pewter | Medium Grey.
  • Accessories and shoes can help lighten your look.
  • Great patterns for you include small and dense, gentle and delicate prints.  Rounded shaped geometric patterns with natural elements such as flowers, butterflies and birds, will also work well.

Don't do it ...
  • Two dark colours are overpowering.
  • Avoid darker colours head to toe, or near your face as they drain you.
  • Avoid neutrals-only combinations as these will look dull on you.
  • Overly bright colours.
  • Patterns | avoid stiff, and square geometric arrangements or big elements.

Jewellery

Jewellery is best kept light to match your delicate colouring rather than deep and rich. Metals can be shiny, brushed, or matt, but avoid antiqued or oxidised finishes that will darken the metals too much.

  • Light Gold (9kt or 14kt | White Gold | Silver | Platinum | Pearls | Mother of Pearl
  • Diamonds (smaller, inset)
  • Gemstones in colours from your palette
Hair

Your hair will always be a natural blonde and as you get older always go lighter rather than darker with highlights. Depending on your undertone you may want to add highlights that are either warm or cool.

Glasses

Always choose a frame that is in a colour or metal from your palette. A mix of light shades, pastels or clear work especially well for you, but avoid darker shades.

Makeup

Your makeup is with light and fresh colours, delicate with little contrast. The best makeup looks are those that repeat your natural characteristics. Avoid strong or deep colours as they will make you look overly made up. You can be colourful though. Your palette is gentle but colourful; which means your makeup looks can get quite colourful too.

What is required is minimal eye makeup and a light, nude lip. Use similar tones to those in your palette.

  • Neutral eyeshadows such as cream, gold, browns and grey with accent colours similar to those in your palette. When choosing eyeshadows, opt for creamy, sheer colours. Just don’t let the colours get too bright or too dark or they will overwhelm you.
  • A Marine Blue, Teal or Moss eyeliner will really bring out the colours in your eyes.
  • A Black-Brown mascara keeps your look light, or a striking soft Navy. Pure Black can be too heavy for your colouring.
If you like a bronzer, opt for a lighter one and do not over-apply, keep it delicate.
  • A light blush, just a little and lovely with a shimmer.
  • Lipsticks that are creamy or sheer achieve a natural and delicate result. A gentle, but colourful sheen.
  • To dramatise your look you don’t need bright or dark lipstick. Aim for a gentle but colourful lip and slightly more eye makeup. A dark lip combined with heavy eye makeup is too heavy for you.

To give you specific advice on colours best for you with regards to hair, makeup or accessories like jewellery or glasses, I would need to determine whether your undertone is Warm or Cool. Please do ask me if you are interested to know more!

I had the most fabulous, fun and inspiring experience with Nicki for the full colour works analysis.Being in my mid sixties I was a little apprehensive of what to expect, but from entering the beautiful consultation room, Nicki made me feel so relaxed.Nicki has such a great understanding of all aspects of colour and styling and was so professional, passionate and clear in her approach when choosing the best colour palette for me, which I found so helpful.I came away feeling so special about myself and both inspired and excited to start using my personal colour swatch wallet which has given me so much confidence and understanding in choosing my new wardrobe combinations. (So looking forward to my next shopping trip!!).I can’t thank Nicki enough for such a wonderful time and would highly recommend her services.
I had the most amazing experience with Nicki during her full works consultation. I genuinely can’t recommend her services enough. You can feel Nicki’s passion for colour instantly and she made me very comfortable and at ease during the appointment. Nicki really cares and it’s evident she wants to help women feel their best versions of themselves - which alone is just a beautiful thing! As someone who’s always been shy to experiment with colour personally (even though I work in fashion(!)), I came away with a new found confidence to explore colour and I honestly can say that I think about Nicki’s advice now whenever I’m shopping. The little swatch book I bought serves as a bit of a bible for me now and I’m so grateful to her for the experience!

This was my first experience of colour analysis. Nicki is a lovely friendly consultant who shares her expertise in clothes colour and make-up. I rarely wear make-up but absolutely loved the look Nicki created for me. I feel inspired and uplifted by the whole experience and cannot wait to colourfully recreate my wardrobe and my image. I highly recommend Nicki's service and advice to anyone who feels in need of a makeover and confidence boost.

The full works package with Nicki was such a fun and engaging experience! Nicki was great at showing me which colours look best on me and how to layer colours and wear them together. I liked that she not only showed me, but also explained her reasoning behind everything. I loved that she also gave advice on other things such as glasses, jewellery, make-up and hair. I came away from the session with a colour swatch booklet and new knowledge on how to dress and accessorize to suit my palette. Nicki was very professional and went out of her way to select colours and shades of make-up especially for me. I would highly recommend the experience.

The Full Works package with Nicki at Colour Fabulous was such a fun and inspiring couple of hours. At her beautiful house, Nicki skillfully found a range of colours, tones and hues that have transformed how I chose and wear clothes. Even more impressively Nicki found a range of new colours that not only really suit my husband but he's happy to wear them too! After years of wearing the same make-up shades, I was really delighted that Nicki was able to give me helpful and bespoke advice on how to change things up and use different make up tones for different effects. It was great that I could try so many shades and Nicki was so generous with her time and advice. We came away with a range of colour swatches and lots of ideas and a new confidence in how to chose and wear clothes. I would definately recommend the experience.
