Colour Guidelines | Click on image/title for more info

Work it ...
  • You look best in colours of medium depth.
  • A beautiful look for you this is through monochromatic colour combinations. You can pair slightly different shades of the same colour.
    • Greens for example, lighter green Verbena with a darker green, Jade. This might make others look washed out, but on a Soft & Warm, it is nothing but flattering.
  • You can combine neighbouring colours and, as long as they have the same depth, they will look perfect on you.
    • Pair Claret with Salmon Pink.
  • Another option is to mix a neutral with an accent of similar depth.
    • A medium Natural Beige with a similarly medium Rust Red.
  • Combining neutral colours (marked with (n) on your swatch) is a flattering way of dressing for your colouring.  It often washes out other palettes, but on you it’s pure elegance.
  • If you like the strong, brighter colours you still have plenty of combinations with these soft colours.
  • Black is not in your palette, if essential, wear sparingly, preferably below the waist and in a sheer light fabric.
  • Your black alternative is Chocolate | Pewter | Charcoal | Light Navy |Rose Brown | Damson
  • Softer textures can often work better for you as they absorb the light making them softer
  • For those who have changed from a DEEP to a SOFT | Some depth of colouring needs to be kept in your look. Lighter shades are better for accent colours.
  • Mid to later in life if your hair turns to grey or white your colouring could change you to a COOL as your dominant palette.
  • Keep patterns like your colouring, with a low contrast. Natural and gentle – such as oval shapes, leaves, and wood structures. Floral patterns also work, especially small flowers. The elements of the pattern should be small and loosely arranged. Blended animal prints are also lovely on you.

Don't do it ...
  • High, stark contrast
  • Extremely vibrant, bright colours
  • Colours with a cool undertone
  • Pastel or icy colours
  • Pairing highly contrasting colours, especially those that sit opposite each other on the colour wheel, such as Blue and Orange. These combinations will overpower your delicate appearance
  • Pure White and Black
  • Patterns | avoid patterns on a white background, geometric patterns, ordered arrangements, and big elements.
Jewellery

Jewellery is best if it is matt or hammered, brushed or satin. Not shiny, avoid bling!

  • Soft Yellow Gold | White Gold | Rose Gold | Bronze | Pewter
Creamy Toned Pearls, Brown, Cream, Pink | Wooden Beads – other natural materials
  • Brown, cream and pink pearls
  • Warm hued gemstones in colours from your palette – Labradorite | Rhodochrosite |Smoky Quartz | Jasper | Moss | Turquoise |Coral Amber | Citrine
Hair

Soft’s naturally have a wide range of hair colours from dark blonde, light brown to brown, with highlights or lowlights. ‍Keep your colours warm with golden or copper tones and try not to go more than one or two shades lighter or darker than your original colour. A mix of highlights and lowlights can work for you, keeping the warm undertone.

Glasses

Always choose a frame that is a colour, or metal from your palette. Softer, muted colours, or shades of the same colour are flattering. Metals that are matt or brushed will also look better. Tortoiseshell is a particularly nice frame but don’t go too orangey!

Makeup

Soft & Warm makeup is at its best when it’s understated and subtle. With a warm and medium depth colouring, your makeup is at its best when it’s gentle and natural. To achieve a harmonious makeup look, you will need to mimic your natural characteristics with your makeup. A ‘Nude makeup’ in its original sense is what you wear best. Keep your makeup matt and elegant and it will frame your face beautifully.

  • Neutral eyeshadow colours look lovely, with a wide variety of beiges, taupes, khakis and browns to choose from.
  • Accent options like Melon, Peach, or soft pinks, plum colours like Damson or Purple, and greens like Olive and Pistachio are great colourful options.
  • When selecting eyeshadows, opt for a matt or slightly shimmery finish. A little shimmer is nice, but too much can easily overwhelm you.
  • Avoid black which can be harsh on your colouring, and take care with accent colours, overly bright colours; these will overwhelm you.
  • Blended colours will give you an elegant and sophisticated look
  • A Moss, Aubergine, Brown or Coffee eyeliner really brings out the colours in your eyes. You want one that doesn’t make an obvious line and is not much darker than your eye shadow.
Warm-Brown, Black-Brown or a soft Navy mascara will look lovely.
  • A blush that is soft and warm with no shimmer such as Almond or Muscat
  • Bronzer is a great product for you, it brings out a healthy, warm and golden glow in your complexion.
  • Use lipstick similar to your natural lip colour for a very subtle daytime look, Chiffon or Spiced Peach.
  • For a more dramatic look you can use the darker colours of your palette. Try a brown smoky eye with Cocoa or Damson. Lips can go slightly darker with Sheer Rum or Sheer Breeze, or even a darker rich Mahogany. Opt for a matt or sheer finish as some glosses can look too heavy.

What a wonderful experience! Nicki is so welcoming and soon puts you at ease. After talking through my new colour palette (it looks wonderful!), she also recommended which colour and shape of glasses would suit me, together with makeup, jewellery and scarves to finish off an outfit. I can't recommend her highly enough!

Went to see Nicki last week for a re rate appointment as it had been a long time since I had my colours done. Turns out I am completely different to what I originally thought! It was a bit of a shock realising I could wear all the colours I've been avoiding for years and finding out that my safety zones of blues arnt actually ideal for my colouring! Since my appointment I haven't stopped looking for new clothes that match my swatches I've already grabbed a few new pieces that I wouldn't have normally chosen but I actually really love once on! 😊 I also have tones of screenshots of clothes online that I'm looking to purchase and new outfit ideas it's very exciting 😀 even my partner now finds things in my colours and can see the difference in colours on me. Thankyou Nicki you've given me my confidence back! 🌟🥰

My sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful Colour Up and Party Package and we cannot recommend Nicki more highly. From the moment we stepped through the door we were made to feel so welcome and Nicki’s expertise and passion for colour bowled us over. Nicki obviously loves what she does and her knowledge and enthusiasm was energising and infectious 🤗We were so interested to learn which colours suit us best and Nicki encouraged us all to experiment with lip colour too which was a game changer for all of us. Thank you so much Nicki from all of us - shopping will never be the same again - we will be forever grateful!

I recently had a Full Works colour analysis session with Nikki, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I walked in, she was incredibly friendly and made me feel at ease right away. The experience was not only enjoyable but also extremely informative. Nikki provided me with a swatch booklet that has been a game-changer for refreshing my wardrobe. Now, shopping for clothes for my holiday is a breeze! She gave me detailed insights into the colours that suit me best, even down to the perfect jewellery, makeup looks and hair tones. I left the session feeling confident and excited about my new look. If you're considering a colour analysis, I highly recommend Nikki. She is knowledgeable, professional, and truly delightful to work with!
